WHO WE ARE
The Pearl Project is a community upliftment initiative of Helderberg Uitreik (NPO no.032-078).
WHAT WE DO
We help people to become independent, to empower them and develop their potential.
HOW DO WE DO IT?
The Pearl Project works in the home environment of the people. We support farm communities in the Helderberg Basin such as Faure/Croydon Firgrove and Raithby . We equip people to eventually provide for their own needs and those of their loved ones. We help parents, youth and children to find their identity in Christ and work in collaboration with schools and other institutions that serve these communities.
We do this through:
- Early childhood development
- A mobile library with DVDs and books
- Life skills / youth ministry
- Hand skills
- Positive self-esteem development
- Awareness of drugs and alcohol abuse
- Participation in camps for children and youth
- Sport organizes in the community
- Sewing course (16+)
- Christmas gifts for the elderly
- Christmas gifts for children participating in our activities
- Poverty relief, sale of school supplies at a reduced rate, hand out food parcels
- Vegetable garden
- Extra Math class (after school)
